What we need
  • Grant Template outlining the Organization’s mission, strategic plan, activities and budget
  • Tips and suggestions on customizing Grant Template for specific grants
What we have in place
  • WIMNI is a highly respected community-based organization with a wonderful reputation for providing successful community-based programs with quality staff and volunteers. WIMNI is also a field placement site for Rutgers School of Social Work interns which enhances our programs and provides us the opportunity to give back to the community at large by offering our programs as learning sites. We continue to ask "How can we better serve our neighbors?" We know how to provide needed services and are committed to continuing to serve, but we don't know how to acquire funding to sustain our programs.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,140 , allowing us to continue providing a much needed, free-of-charge afterschool program for over 60 middle school students in 6th-8th grades.

WIMNI programs run on multiple financial models for participants including free-of-charge, suggested donation, and sliding scale. WIMNI has demonstrated its ability to provide quality programming and a commitment to fiscal responsibility. A major source of the community's goodwill is borne out of the organization's commitment to doing more with less. On average 30% of our budget comes from individual donors and 40% from participant contributions. However our programs cannot be sustainable without finding funding from grant sources. This project will ensure sustainability in our efforts to continue serving the community at large.

Our mission

Who Is My Neighbor? Inc. (WIMNI) is a 501c3 nonprofit that provides enriching social and educational programs for children, families, and adults to create connections and foster a sense of belonging in our diverse community.

What we do

Our nonprofit's name is a question, "Who is my neighbor?," and we continue to ask, "How can we better serve our neighbors?." Our community-based programs include:

1. The CAVE - an afterschool program for middle school youth which provides a space for students to spend time with their friends in a safe and supervised environment, work on homework, play games, and participate in creative activities.

2. The FAMILY DEN - an early childhood enrichment and parenting support program that provides a creative learning environment for children ages infant through four years to develop social, emotional, and cognitive skills while providing caregivers the opportunity to form supportive community. With 15 languages spoken on any given day, The Family Den serves to bring together neighbors from multiple socio-economic, racial, ethnic, religious, and family backgrounds.

3. CAMP COOL ENVIRONMENT - a summer educational program for elementary-aged children that focuses on nature, science, visual and theatrical arts, and the environment. This program also offers local teenagers a great opportunity to serve their community and develop mentorship skills by serving as a volunteen (volunteer + teenager).

4. SENIOR SOCIAL NETWORK - a program that supports active, independent seniors as they age in our communities through activities such as monthly meetings, lectures, museum visits, concerts, dinners, and more.
