  • Assessment of whether any products/services should be discontinued or offered at differential price points based on constituents’ needs
Additional details

Knowledge of --- or willingness to research / consider --- the strategic implications of hosting online modules on PHI's own Learning Management System (LMS) versus charging an annual licensing fee and allowing the modules to be hosted on the contracting organization's LMS.

What we have in place
  • PHI has a strong workforce innovations team, including a Vice President who will lead this volunteer engagement process. For decades, PHI has been nationally recognized for our curriculum design and development for direct care workers. We work with employers, existing training programs, and states to adapt these training programs to their unique needs. The changing landscape of long-term care as well as advancements in technology combine to increase both the importance and urgency of a strategic discussion around pricing structure. We respectfully seek an expert to guide us through this process.
How this will help
This project will save us $6,868 , allowing us to ensure that everyone can access paid care for their loved ones. We believe caring, committed relationships between direct care workers and their clients are at the heart of quality care.

At a time when home care providers stand to gain the most from reducing turnover and strengthening the skills of home care workers, they also have the fewest resources to invest in recruitment, training, and retention strategies. PHI helps providers implement sustainable workforce solutions that promote quality care and cost-efficiency. We are experts in the field, with high-quality curriculum development and design. Our current pricing structure for these services only reflects the cost of our work, rather than the ongoing value to the customer. A more strategic pricing structure could maximize our organizational impact while minimizing associated fundraising needs.

Our mission

The Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI) works to transform eldercare and disability services. We foster dignity, respect, and independence for all who receive care and all who provide it. The nation’s leading authority on the direct care workforce, PHI promotes quality direct care jobs as the foundation for quality care.

What we do

Direct care workers are skilled women and men who provide hands-on care and support every day to older adults and people living with disabilities—in home, community-based, and institutional settings. They ensure clients’ well-being, lend emotional support, and assist with daily tasks essential to living independently.

However, direct care workers are often denied opportunities for high-quality training, living wages, advancement, and respect for the critical role they play—making it harder for them to provide the quality care their clients deserve. It’s also harder for direct care providers to attract and retain caring, committed professionals to meet the growing need for long-term care services.

PHI draws on 25 years of experience working side-by-side with direct care workers and their clients in cities and towns across the country to offer providers, policymakers, and other key stakeholders all the tools necessary to ensure quality care and quality jobs. We maintain a national headquarters in New York and an office in Washington, D.C.
