HR Systems
HR Systems
Project details
What we need
- Audit of the existing systems and processes; the audit is limited to hiring and termination practices, work scheduling, payroll processing, benefits administration, insurance, and compliance with federal and state employment laws
- Recommendation for process improvements and software providers (if necessary)
- Implementation of chosen software (if necessary)
- Training on maintenance tasks
Additional details
We are also posting for an Employee Handbook volunteer and would ideally like to work with one person on both projects, if this is feasible.
What we have in place
- We're ready to get started! We have all the usual systems and processes in place, but need help developing a suite of best practices and a checklist, in particular for hiring and terminating employees, communicating employment laws, and maintaining accurate records (electronic and paper files).
How this will help
This project will save us $6,746 , allowing us to Get more people to, on, and in the water!
We're growing! We currently have nine full-time staff members and one-part, as well as several consultants, interns, and volunteers. There is a lot to keep track of and we'd like someone to help us (office administrator and chief operating officer) do an audit of our existing systems, in particular those related to hiring and termination practices, benefits administration, and compliance with federal, state, and city employment laws. We also receive funding from City Council and under these contracts obliged to maintain a specific set of HR practices related to employees paid under these contracts.
Project plan
Our mission
The Waterfront Alliance inspires and effects resilient, revitalized, and accessible coastlines for all communities.
What we do
Whether we live, work, or play where the water meets the land, we have the shared responsibility to ensure our waterfront is accessible for boating and recreation, ecologically healthy, resilient to climate change, and a source of good-paying jobs. We are at the forefront of building consensus and influencing waterfront policy and planning in New York and New Jersey through providing public testimony and producing white papers. Our programs include serving as an early advocate for five-borough ferry service, building neighborhood docks for educational and recreational use, and helping communities create better waterfront design using our Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines.Through our annual Waterfront Conference, City of Water Day, and Harbor Camp, we bring together and open the eyes of today's and tomorrow's generations of waterfront stewards.
Testimonials
Chris was a great match for our HR systems project! He is very knowledgeable and was able to do a thorough review of our HR on-boarding process and help us identify ways to streamline it, as well as making sure we're in compliance with various federal, state, and city laws. I would highly recommend working with Chris for your HR needs!
