Project details

What we need
  • Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
  • Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
Additional details

We are also posting for an HR Systems volunteer and would ideally like to work with one person on both projects, if this is feasible.

What we have in place
  • We currently have an employee handbook that we would like an experienced volunteer to review and recommend and help us draft language for any new laws that need to be added (such as NY Paid Sick Leave policy and Paid Family Leave), as well as help us think through some additional language updates to our vacation policy and benefits.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,430 , allowing us to Get more people to, on, and in the water!

We have nine full-time employees and one-part employee and continue to grow every year (we currently are recruiting for one open full-time position). Ensuring that our existing employee handbook reflects current employment laws as well as other benefits is important for making our employees feel well looked after and valued.

Our mission

The Waterfront Alliance inspires and effects resilient, revitalized, and accessible coastlines for all communities.

What we do

Whether we live, work, or play where the water meets the land, we have the shared responsibility to ensure our waterfront is accessible for boating and recreation, ecologically healthy, resilient to climate change, and a source of good-paying jobs. We are at the forefront of building consensus and influencing waterfront policy and planning in New York and New Jersey through providing public testimony and producing white papers. Our programs include serving as an early advocate for five-borough ferry service, building neighborhood docks for educational and recreational use, and helping communities create better waterfront design using our Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines.Through our annual Waterfront Conference, City of Water Day, and Harbor Camp, we bring together and open the eyes of today's and tomorrow's generations of waterfront stewards.
