Project details

What we need
  • Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
  • Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
What we have in place
  • We currently have an employee handbook, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have handbook examples from other companies, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,430 , allowing us to pay our community actors with over 100 stipends and metrocards for rehearsals and performances.

Theatre of the Oppressed NYC fights the oppression facing our communities daily. As an employer and more recently a landlord, we are constantly hoping to create a safe and progressive work environment as well as creating structure and boundaries for our employees. As the company continues to grow exponentially we are learning about additional structures we should have in place to make sure expectations are clear between the company and employees. We now know the importance of setting these boundaries to build a safe space to work and create.

Our mission

Theatre of the Oppressed NYC partners with community members at local organizations to form theatre troupes. These troupes devise and perform plays based on their challenges confronting economic inequality, racism, and other social, health and human rights injustices. After each performance, actors and audiences engage in theatrical brainstorming - called Forum Theatre - with the aim of catalyzing creative change on the individual, community, and political levels
