What We Need

  • Final designs for a predetermined type of promotional apparel (e.g., t-shirts, hats, shorts, etc) or merchandise (mugs, pens, tote bags, etc.) provided in the high-resolution format of the Organization's choice
  • NOTE: Printing and vendor sourcing is not included

Additional Details

Significant visual design experience and an enthusiasm to contribute to the development of an aesthetically excellent brand design that is true to the Wilderness Volunteers spirit.

How This Will Help

We would like to use a new, unique brand design to begin seeking partnerships with outdoor retailers, increasing both our fundraising capacity and our public outreach. Increased outreach and funding will help our organization grow and in turn provide more volunteer labor to the agencies that manage our public lands.

What We Have In Place

We currently have a variety of marketing materials & logos which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a large stock of outdoor photos and the ability to provide any other information you need.

Fun Fact

WV exists only due to the dedication of a community of ordinary citizens volunteering their time & labor to give something back to the wild lands they love. From volunteer project participants to volunteer project leaders our program is largely volunteer driven, come volunteer and help us give something back!

Project Steps

Prep: Distribution of Prep Materials
  • Volunteer Manager provides Professional with high-resolution logo, images, and/or slogan in electronic format and Visual Brand Identity (if available)
Milestone 1: Information Gathering
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager connect to discuss desired design aesthetic and target audience for merchandise
Milestone 2: Design Phase
  • Professional creates initial design and sends to Volunteer Manager for up to three rounds of review and feedback
Milestone 3: Finalizing Design
  • Professional finalizes designs, digitizes the artwork and delivers high-resolution versions along with print specifications
Prerequisites for Professional
  • Proficiency with design software such as Adobe’s creative suite
  • Experience designing merchandise based on client’s brand and marketing goals
  • Portfolio examples to share with the Organization
Prerequisites for Organization
  • High-resolution logo, images, and/or slogan in electronic format
  • Any additional relevant materials including an outline of your visual brand
  • Chosen promotional merchandise where the design will be printed (tote bag, mug, apparel, etc.)
  • Vendor and budget to produce materials

Our Mission

Wilderness Volunteers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization currently making plans for our 21st season of providing low cost service projects that give ordinary citizens the opportunity to experience our nation's wild places while giving something back. We promote engaged community stewardship of America's wild lands through organizing & promoting volunteer service in cooperation with agencies across the US. Our core objective is to provide effective & enthusiastic volunteer labor to the federal agencies that manage our wilderness areas & support these managing agencies in their struggle to address critical projects & preserve wild lands on ever shrinking budgets.
