Additional details
Photography experience at indoor events.
Ability to travel to Washington D.C. for Rooting DC, an all day forum, on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018.
Please visit www.rootingdc.org for more information on the event.
What we have in place
- We currently have an event space and program, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have prompts for characters to capture at the event, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,048 , allowing us to redirect sponsorship funds towards event staff stipends and transportation reimbursements to income-eligible attendees.
Rooting DC is a free, annual forum for urban gardeners in the greater D.C. area that attracts over 1,000 attendees. The 11th Annual Rooting DC will take place on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 in Tenleytown, NW DC. We are excited to take advantage of Patagonia's Catchafire to help us capture Rooting DC at its essence. High quality images will help us better demonstrate the value of this indoor community event, capture the diversity of activities and attendees, and attract event sponsors in future years so we can continue offering the event for free.

Our mission
DC Greens is a Black-led, multiracial organization that uses advocacy, food education, and upstream community health interventions to build a more just and resilient food system. Our innovative food access program Produce Rx advances a "food as medicine" approach. We equip medical professionals to prescribe fresh fruits and veggies to patients with low incomes managing diet-related illnesses like diabetes, pre-diabetes and hypertension.
In 2022 we opened our educational farm and wellness space The Well, serving the Congress Heights, Washington Highlands and Bellevue neighborhoods of Southeast DC. DC Greens' vision for health equity is a city where each one of us has the ability to shape the policies and institutions that have an impact on our wellbeing.
