What we need
  • A set of key metrics to regularly track
  • Spreadsheet tool to collect data on key metrics with accompanying tables and graphs for analysis
  • Training for best practices on data collection
  • Training on how to use the spreadsheet and analyze key metrics
  • Note: This project does not include data entry or analysis
What we have in place
  • We currently have a clear idea of our programs and what to track, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a number loving staff member, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,808 , allowing us to put that money back into our programs that support 33 other environmental organizations, and have numbers to share parts of their stories as well!

Metrics are critical for receiving funding and proving the effectiveness of our work, and we currently aren't tracking any! We desperately need numbers to help tell our story.

  • Volunteer Manager shares relevant materials describing their programs
  • Professional facilitates conversation with Volunteer Manager to determine what constitutes program success
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager agree on goals, timeline, and next steps for the project

Milestone 1: Professional Identifies Key Metrics
  • Professional comes up with a set of key metrics to track
  • Professional outlines how to track each metric, including frequency of measurement and unit of measurement

Milestone 2: Data Collection & Analysis Tool Created
  • Volunteer Manager provides feedback on the suggested metrics
  • Professional incorporates feedback into final set of metrics
  • Professional creates a spreadsheet for Organization to collect data, along with relevant tables and graphs to help analyze data

  • Professional trains team members how to collect the data points and enter them into the tool

Our mission

Trees Foundation’s mission is to restore the ecological integrity of California’s North Coast by empowering and assisting regional community-based conservation and restoration projects.

What we do

Trees Foundation currently supports 33 visionary grassroots environmental organizations whose work spans from the Bay Area all the way into southern Oregon. We support our Partners in Conservation and Restoration through the following programs:

Fiscal Sponsorship Program: provides 501c(3) non-profit status and operational support to numerous budding organizations

Professional Support: GIS, graphic design, fundraising and budgeting

Donor Advised Grants: has awarded over $1 million in regional grants;

Forest & River News: quarterly publication providing conservation news to the public, grassroots organizations, and activists to educate and share advocacy, restoration models, and lessons learned.
