This project will save us $6,000, allowing us to report out data to our community on a regular basis.

What We Need

  • A set of key metrics to regularly track
  • Spreadsheet tool to collect data on key metrics with accompanying tables and graphs for analysis
  • Training for best practices on data collection
  • Training on how to use the spreadsheet and analyze key metrics
  • Note: this does not include data entry or analysis of the data

How This Will Help

We need your Excel expertise! We would like the ability to report out our client and volunteer statistics on a weekly basis. We are currently using Excel to do this but our spreadsheets need a makeover and fresh set of eyes. Can you help us?

What We Have In Place

We currently have years of data which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have time to work on this before our tax season starts and the ability to provide any other information you need.

Fun Fact

At Tax-Aid volunteers run the show! We only have a staff of two so we depend on people like you to fulfill our mission.

  • Prep: Professional understands Organization's goals and how they determine program success
    • Volunteer Manager shares relevant materials describing their programs such as an Annual Report or Business Plan
    • Professional facilitates conversation with Volunteer Manager to determine what constitutes program success
    • Professional facilitates conversation with Volunteer Manager to agree on goals, timeline, and next steps for the project
  • Milestone 1: Professional outlines key metrics to track
    • Professional comes up with a set of key metrics to track
    • Professional outlines how to track each metric, including frequency of measurement and unit of measurement
  • Milestone 2: Data collection and analysis tool created
    • Volunteer Manager provides feedback on the suggested metrics
    • Professional incorporates feedback into final set of metrics
    • Professional creates a spreadsheet for Organization to collect data, along with relevant tables and graphs to help analyze data
  • Milestone 3: Team members are trained on the data collection system and analysis tool
    • Professional trains team members how to collect the data points and enter them into the tool
    • Professional trains team members how to run reports and use them for analysis

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Goals outlined for data collection (e.g., Program Evaluation, Internal Capacity Assessment, Fundraising Effectiveness)
