What we'd like to talk about

We're a member-based organization that is growing a chapter in two other regions. How can we best approach handling accounting across multiple chapters?

Additional context

We are currently headquartered and chartered in New York City where we handle all web, financial, and infrastructure. We're launching a new chapter in Los Angeles at the end of the month and we're starting to explore opportunities in the Bay Area. Here are some of the specific questions: What is a reasonable expectation for splitting chapter income so that all chapters contribute to our national overhead? Must NY maintain ownership of all accounts since that's where we're chartered? How can we give chapters autonomy over their finances without complicating our taxes? Do additional chapters present any implications for how we would do our taxes?

"Phone calls" are 1 hour, one-time calls with an organization. Learn the difference between volunteering on a Phone call and a Project here.
