We need to let more people know who we are and what great ways we are using sport and physical activity to help girls get active, become more confident and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Project plan
Our mission
We are on a bold mission to advance the health and empowerment of women and girls through the transformative power of sport and physical activity.
What we do
Play Like A Girl is finding innovative ways to get girls moving in an effort to create a more active generation. We teach girls the benefits of sport and physical activity, and we make it fun by offering an array of physical activities to keep girls interested as they grow older.
Sporty Girls is a sports sampling program that helps girls, grades 3-8, build a foundation for enjoying sport and physical activity throughout their lives. The program gets girls running, jumping and kicking as they experience a variety of sports and movement-related activities in a safe, girl-only environment before, during and after school.
Sporty Girls is a fun, experiential program that introduces girls to movement and sport appropriate for their age and skill level. The goal of Sporty Girls is to help ensure early, positive exposure to sport and physical activity and increase the likelihood of girls staying active throughout their lives. Girls develop movement and athletic skills, cooperative and competitive spirit, and healthy habits. They also experience the benefits and excitement of taking positive risks that bolster their self-confidence and personal growth.
Play Like A Girl (PLAG) Clubs are champions for change on high school and college campuses. PLAG Clubs connect young women of all abilities and fitness levels to achieve their personal fitness goals together. Each week, PLAG Clubs bring members together to move, explore new physical activities and build positive relationships. Club events feature group runs, fitness classes, intramural sports and social activities.
Because young women yearn for community and excitement, PLAG Clubs uniquely weave together sport, sweat and social media to create community for young women bound by a passion for fitness. High school and college-age women are the primary channel to promote and grow the the community. Together, these young women form physical communities to promote health and fitness on their campuses.
