Project details
What we need
- Creation of an E-Newsletter from scratch, or an overhaul of an existing one
- Training on how to input content into a template
What we have in place
- We will provide our professional volunteer with copies of past e-newsletters, brand messaging information, access to our social media, logo, photographs, and any other organizational and media-related information he or she would find helpful.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,397 , allowing us to screen and treat 200 children for deadly water-related diseases improving the health of one child at a time.
Maji Safi Group is now four years old. For the last couple of years, we have sent an e-newsletter update to our supporters on a monthly basis and a few emails about special events. We use MailChimp and have about 750 people on our distribution list. Our opening rate is usually 30-35%, and we regularly receive praise for our content and use of photographs. Nevertheless, we would like professional input on analyzing goals, strategies, audiences, content ideas, balance between updates, stories, educational material, etc., and ideas for creating an even more engaging and eye-catching newsletter.
Project plan
Our mission
Maji Safi Group’s mission is to promote health and disease prevention in underserved and impoverished areas through holistic community empowerment and by working predominantly with local women and youth.
What we do
Maji Safi Group (MSG), “Clean Water Group” in Swahili, started in 2012 as a project in Shirati, Tanzania, with the vision that the rate of preventable diseases can be reduced in rural communities if women, youth, and vulnerable groups are empowered to be change makers of their community’s public health. To reach this goal, MSG promotes proper water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) behavioral practices and provides healthy lifestyle education. In January 2014, MSG became a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.
Since Maji Safi Group (MSG) was founded, the 14 locally hired and trained Community Health Workers have become WASH ambassadors in the community, 9 programs have been holistically developed through participatory methods and implemented. These programs teach important behavioral changes such as personal hygiene and health, washing hands, water treatment, and alternatives to open defecation. MSG has reached a wide range of community participants in the Rorya district of Tanzania. Program data from the first two years of operation indicates that MSG has reached over 60,000 community members from 107 villages and sub-villages in the Rorya District who have been taught lessons on disease prevention, WASH and health promotion.
