Website Construction (CMS-Based)
Website Construction (CMS-Based)
Project details
What we need
- Development of a new website using a Content Management System (CMS)
- Training to ensure Organization's staff members can update content and manage the site post-launch
- Note: This project is for a website built with a Content Management System (CMS), such as Wordpress, Squarespace, Joomla, Drupal, or Weebly . A CMS-based website can be maintained and updated easily (no coding required!)
What we have in place
- We currently have a conner strategy, sitemap, template chosen, and mockup, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a dedicated staff person and our UI Catchafire volunteer, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $20,842 , allowing us to hold 1 workshop for climate adaptation for rural communities being relocated.
As a virtual think tank, our website is at the heart of all we do. It provides a place for the public and policymakers to learn about Arctic peoples and environments, gives young scholars a platform to publish their work, and helps connect at-risk communities with our research and events on climate adaptation solutions. From our current Blogger site, we hope to move our website to Wordpress, using a hybrid of a template and custom design. We are looking for a volunteer who has worked on Wordpress before and has experience with editing templates and responsive design. Thank you!
Project plan
Our mission
TAI envisions a world in which the Arctic’s diverse and complex sources of insecurity are identified, understood, and innovatively resolved. We hope to achieve this by informing Arctic policy across the circumpolar region through objective, multidisciplinary, and innovative social science research. We do this through publishing high-quality, open access research on a range of issues relating to security in the High North; providing innovative policy analysis and recommendations to policymakers a
What we do
The Arctic Institute is an independent international institute dedicated to research of and engagement in the many dimensions of Arctic insecurity. Established in 2011, TAI provides data, analysis, and recommendations to policymakers, researchers, media, and the interested public. Based in Washington, DC, TAI’s network of research associates extends across North America, Scandinavia, and the European Union.
Testimonials
Julian was an incredible volunteer who took our organization to the next level with his professional development of our website. Taking our viewpoint and ideas into careful consideration, Julian used his insightful expertise in Wordpress development to build, at at times design, a state of the art (and very robust) website. A team player, Julian worked effectively and efficiently with our UX volunteer and a number of staff members to ensure that every detail of the website was executive to perfection in a timely manner. The result is arguably one of the better website in think tank standard practice. I would highly recommend Julian for any future web building and design projects.
I worked with both Victoria and Malte of the Arctic Institute and both are very friendly and professional. Requirements were clear and they did plenty of prep work before bringing me in (for example a full site audit, website design and copy preparation) which gave the whole project a clear direction.
