Project details

What we need
  • A written analysis of the Organization's position in the community it serves and its ability to address identified needs/problems for its beneficiaries
  • A summary of the Organization's strengths and weaknesses, related to its program goals as needed
  • A summary of competitors or potential collaborators
  • An appendix of all data gathered to perform analysis, including sources
Additional details

We provide programs for adults experiencing memory loss (Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia) and for their caregivers and loved ones. We are located in West Los Angeles.

We want to know the best potential outreach for our programs and our OZ program (OPICA on Zoom - which can reach beyond Los Angeles).

What we have in place
  • We currently have a part time outreach coordinator & digital media volunteer, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have history of ads that weren't very successful, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $28,696 , allowing us to to provide services to more people who could use our services. Help us better understand how to reach them.

We know there are many people who would benefit from OPICA if they knew about us. We want to explore better ways to reach out to them.

Testimonials

Tyler spent over 100 hours volunteering for OPICA creating the basis for a marketing analysis study. He is extraordinarily detail-oriented. He took a very deep dive into areas he previously was not familiar with and was not reluctant to reach out for information and follow where leads took him. He documented everything he did and listened to feedback for potential edits. He created a timeline and kept to it. Tyler is very thorough in all the work he does. I recommend Tyler.

Market Analysis Project

I have the chance to work with Craig, Advancement Director and Pam, Commnity Outreach Associate to deliver my first Market Analysis Project following the provided project plan for the proposed geographic area of downtown Los Angeles (40 Min. from OPICA). To define the market we used PESTLE Analysis and defined participating government departments and agencies. We reviewed material from the Department fo Social Services to define the target customer and outline the customer journey to define the target markets and their growth. The California Master Plan for Aging and their Data Dashboard was used to segment the market and address profitability with Porter's 5 Forces and the threat of new entrants like a Adult Daycare Busienss. Eighteen providers were reviewed with SWOT Analysis acting as competitor analysis. An Ansoff Growth Matrix was used to discuss products and markets with different risk profiles, a change impact assessment proposing implemention, and a one-page business plan as a template to source management approval. Overall, Craig and Pam were very accomodating, open and agreeable to the deliverables and met regularly via video conference for an hour or so weekly. While the project duration was at the minimum range we spent twelve weeks supporting the project and closed the project mutually with an understanding progress and momentum was plateuing. We made an attempt at every objective and provided multiple deliverables for many objectives. I would work again with Craig and Pam and look forward to following up to learn about the progress and share any new skils I developed in hopes of sourcing more work and learning about new opportunities. While the first phase Prep: Distribution of Prep Materials was primarily an article "Mannie and Rose" the website and a preliminary interview was used to get an understanding of the organization. I believe we exceed expectations on the SWOT Analysis detailed criteria for each of the four factors to support summaries common in PowerPoint as well as the Political Macro-environmental Factor for the Macro, Sector, and Specific to OPICA in the PESTLE Analysis with a respective flow chart of Departments and Agencies to support the scope of research and civic literacy. The geographic region of southern California made it challenging to provide specific region given most third party reports were at the national level. The Alzheimer Association detailed content at the state level that was helpful to start the project and learn about Alzheimer's. Thanks again Craig and Pam for the opportunity to volunteer and work as a team and I am looking forward to staying in touch and recommend any next steps to my network on LinkedIn. I noted in this survey to close the project PESTLE Analysis, Porter's Five Forces, and the Ansoff Growth Matrix were new to tools and the SWOT Analysis process helped improve an existing skill. Over 10 Weeks 137 Hours were volunteered.
