Project details
What we need
We are seeking to display the statistical data of the National average of Veterans (men, women, LGBT, Trans, families) without permanent housing and the correlation to disabilities. Seeking to show both National and local numbers. We also want to show the numbers of those WE as an organization have been able to support.
Demographics of Homeless Veterans:
- 12% of the homeless adult population are veterans
- 20% of the male homeless population are veterans
- 51% of individual homeless veterans have disabilities
- 50% have serious mental illness
- 70% have substance abuse problems
- 50% are age 51 or older, compared to 19% non-veterans

What we have in place
- We currently have data of the Veterans we have served, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have data from the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $10,262 , allowing us to provide housing for 5 US Military Veteran families.
Many Veterans find themselves on the streets or at risk of homelessness (often along with their family) and do not know where to seek support. Operation Dignity is able to provide that support and more!
We will utilize this data in a visual format to create new print media to garner support and remind our community that we need their help to reach out to Veterans and their families whom may be in need. We will also use it to generate awareness online via social media and our website.

Project plan
Our mission
Since 1993, our goal has been to provide safe housing, nutritious meals, and access to an full array of services to help primarily homeless Veterans, their families, and non-Veterans so they can begin their rehabilitation process.
What we do
Veterans come out of a world entirely different than that of civilians. They are given incredible training, abilities, and responsibilities without the university degree and certification which will allow them to translate and transition outside of that bubble. It is no wonder that they may come to a place of struggle once re-entered into our civilian world.
We are a full-fledged non-profit 501(c)(3) Veteran run, service-enriched provider serving the homeless Veterans and displaced populations of Alameda County. Our goal is to provide safe housing, nutritious meals, and access to a full array of services so those we support can begin their rehabilitation process.
Testimonials
Rex was super thorough when helping us research the statistics for this project! It was a pleasure to have his support in getting this Homeless Veteran information to the world around us.
It was a truly amazing experience. Many things were going on at the time in my personal life, that I'm still dealing with now but in a much better perspective. Working with Lora R. and Operation Dignity gave me a feeling of hope that there are people out there that care. This was my very first info graphic ever, and it would have been much more of a challenge on how to organize the information in the info graphic, but Lora made it so much easier by giving me all of her support and patience. Thank you Lora R. and thank you Operation Dignity for giving me this opportunity. It my honor to help, and I hope we can work together again.
