What we need

We've been collecting data with each and every one of the homes we have certified, but this data means nothing to the average consumer. The work that we do has a significant impact on the environment, but we've struggled to really show it. The development of an infographic that shows our impact would be hugely helpful for our organization for use in printed materials, website, annual reports, etc. We need:

  • The ability to communicate complex information using an easily interpretable visual aid.
  • A high-resolution version of the infographic in the Organization’s preferred format.
What we have in place
  • We currently have data on every home we've certified, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have our 2012 annual report, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,212 , allowing us to certify 4 homes that are 30% more energy efficient, on average, than standard code-built homes.

Our work is highly technical, and in the "green" world that we live in, its hard for people to really understand what we do and what impact we have. A strong infographic will allow us to more effectively reach a variety of audiences, connecting people to our mission and work and allowing for the building and certification of more high-performance homes in Virginia.

Our mission

Advancing sustainable, affordable, and energy efficient construction through education and technical support

What we do

EarthCraft Virginia is the local non-profit that facilitates the implementation of a variety of green building programs in the state and serves to support builders and homeowners in the development of sustainable, high-performance housing. Most notably, EarthCraft Virginia administers the EarthCraft family of programs, a green building certification program that is specific to the Southeast. Along with our partners at Southface Energy Institute in Georgia, the EarthCraft program has certified almost 30,000 homes in 15 years. In Virginia alone, we have certified over 2,000 single family homes and 11,000 multifamily units. EarthCraft certified dwellings in Virginia in 2012 kept 1,190 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere - the same as reducing oil consumption by 2,511 barrels of oil or removing 225 cars from our roads.
