Project details

What we need
  • Better Family Life (BFL) plans to develop its logic model to convey the approach and rational of our organization activities.  We will then use the model to inform the development of our core services and methodologies in the creation of our strategic plan.  The strategic plan will include plan to secure and sustain a myriad of diverse funding streams.
  • The strategic plan will outline BFL's family engagement programing that aims to develop, support, and empower families of color, fill programing gaps of existing family services in NYC for communities of color, and establish BFL as a strong primary asset for families as it relates to their family life.
  • BFL is a new organization in NYC and is currently in the organization development phase. We have a working board that has identified its target audience, market, and the nature and scope of the services we intend to deliver.
  • A strong strategic plan will give us the roadmap for developing activies in line with our mission and vision.
  • BFL's board members possess over 30 years of experience in non-profit, community-based leadership work and programming; Extensive knowledge and experience working with families in this community across the life course; Experience with advocating for service priorities and funding from the City, State, and Federal Government; and Grant writing experience.  Additionally, we have experience in various forms of community outreach, engagement, community and individual health education, and providing core services.
What we have in place
  • We currently have strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a general concept of what we hope to accomplish, a motivated team, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $12,550 , allowing us to host a fatherhood event for 40 father/child pairs in need relationship strengthening.

This strategic plan will lay the foundation for BFL to create a solid, sustainable organization that delivers services in a effective and efficient manner relevant to the needs of our target population. The plan will also demonstrate the impact BFL will make within the community which will result in attracting private and public funding sources. It is also important that our plan will allow us to expand our activities to meet the evolving needs of our families.
