Project details

What we need
  • A set of success metrics for the Organization's program such as key performance indicators and secondary performance indicators
  • Guidelines on how to measure success metrics, how often to measure them, and how to present metrics to internal and external stakeholders
What we have in place
  • We seek to develop new, relevant and meaningful metrics to track the progress and success of our programs. We have aggregate data from past evaluations and testimonials to use as guide, but feel our program has changed and needs new metrics.
How this will help
This project will save us $10,240 , allowing us to provide staff training to 3 schools and 250 kids.

Data about our program impact is essential to the success of Bent On Learning. This project will create trust and credibility among our donors and schools and improve our fundraising capacity.

Our mission

Our mission is to improve the physical fitness and cognitive, social and emotional skills of New York City public school students by providing regular instruction in yoga and meditation. Bent On Learning formed in 2001 when three yoga teachers met by chance in their mutual and passionate pursuit of bringing yoga to urban youth. They began as a small volunteer effort with a smattering of classes in a few public schools.

What we do

Bent on Learning offers instruction in yoga and meditation to students in grades K through 12 in New York City public schools and youth centers as a means of reducing stress and improving concentration, self-esteem and overall health.

We additionally train public school teachers and staff in yogic techniques and exercises so they can assist students in focusing their energies.

Every year, Bent On Learning brings yoga to more students in more schools and youth centers, from Brooklyn to Manhattan and the Bronx. We offer special classes for students with learning disabilities and for pregnant teens as well as classes for teachers to learn ways to incorporate simple yogic techniques and mindfulness training into their teaching.
