Project details

What we need
  • Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
  • Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
What we have in place
  • Our current Employee Handbook was last revised in 2010. CHAPA's Deputy Director is available to help in any way needed.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,430 , allowing us to use our resources to help 100 low income people across MA.

CHAPA’s success depends on its small but dedicated staff of 12 employees. In order to retain and recruit exceptional employees, we need personnel policies that reflect best practices around family leave and other benefits and procedures. We want to make sure we are treating our staff as well as possible (within our budget constraints). In fact, we have several newer staff members who may want to have children one day, and we want to make sure we are a family-friendly place! Since we are based in Massachusetts, it would be helpful to work with a professional who understands Massachusetts law.

Our mission

Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association’s mission is to encourage the production and preservation of housing that is affordable to low and moderate income families and individuals and to foster diverse and sustainable communities through planning and community development.

What we do

CHAPA is the non-profit umbrella organization for affordable housing and community development activities in Massachusetts. Established in 1967, CHAPA is the only statewide group that represents all interests in the housing field, including non-profit and for-profit developers, municipal officials, local housing providers and advocates, lenders, property managers, architects, consultants, homeowners, tenants, local planners, foundation and government officials, and others.

CHAPA pursues its goals through advocacy with local, state, and federal officials; research on affordable housing issues; education and training for organizations and individuals; programs to expand rental and home ownership opportunities; and coalition building among a broad array of interests in the housing and community development field.
