Project details

What we need
  • Feedback on the current website’s layout, user functionality, mobile-friendliness, visual design, content, and other key features
  • Clear articulation of the Organization’s goals for the website
  • Recommendations for improvements to help achieve the Organization’s desired goals
  • Note: If you are looking for a more specific, in-depth audit of your website's design and usability, try our Website Usability Audit project
What we have in place
  • We are in the process of creating brand standards (which will help with the redesign) and have been developing strategies to drive more traffic to our website. We have a strong social media presence on Facebook and Twitter as well as several other sites. We also have clear goals regarding what we want people to do when they come to our website and how we want them to feel, but need an outside pair of eyes looking at our site to see if we are accomplishing these goals (and how to improve if not).
How this will help
This project will save us $4,762 , allowing us to provide support to 100 young adult cancer survivors.

Our website is in desperate need of a redesign. Before we begin that process, though, we need to make sure we are a) articulating our impact, b) making it user-friendly for both donors/supporters and young adult survivors (participants), and c) representing all of our programs well. We are beginning to look at Analytics to learn about our audience so when we do the redesign, we want to make sure we're addressing them effectively.

Our mission

The Samfund is designed to help young adults recover from the financial impact of cancer treatment.

What we do

The Samfund currently provides three programs to help young adults get back on their feet after treatment:

1. Direct financial assistance: since 2005, close to $1.5 million in grants has been awarded to young adults across the country, covering a wide range of needs including living expenses, medical expenses, mental and physical health and wellness, family-building, and many more.

2. Online support: The Samfund hosts a free Webinar series called "Moving Forward With Your Financial Health," designed to provide concrete and reliable information and resources surrounding a range of practical and financial issues, including employment, insurance, medical debt and more. Webinar presentations are made by financial professionals as well as representatives from other cancer organizations.

3. Finances 101: A toolkit for young adults with cancer: Launched at the end of 2014, this new program is designed to help young adults make better-informed financial decisions during and after cancer treatment so that their financial recovery doesn't become a lifelong struggle. The toolkit is currently comprised of blog posts and Webinars on selected topics, and we are currently in the process of designing an interactive decision-making tool that will be housed on our website.

Through these programs, The Samfund helps young adults get back on their feet so that they can move forward towards their goals.

Testimonials

Patricia was *amazing* -- so knowledgeable, incredibly thoughtful and very, very prompt (the entire project was completed in about a month or maybe less). She provided such valuable insight during this process and gave us feedback on our website which will help us tremendously in the next phase of the website redesign project. We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with Patricia for a long time to come!
