Social Media Plan
Project details
What we need
Through strategic social media communication channels we could reach a much larger and broader audience with information about urban density and neighborhood planning. We need:
- A content strategy for social media with tailored suggestions for style, tone and types of content to best showcase our organization;
- Expert consultation on messaging, scheduling and frequency of posts on social media;
- Recommendations of metrics for measuring the success and impact of our social media presence
What we have in place
- Our current online presence includes:
- A newly designed website with a blog and events calendar
- Facebook page: 342 likes
- Twitter account: 146 followers
- LinkedIn page (new): 3 followers
- Newsletter: 558 recipients with 40% open rate
How this will help
This project will save us $3,365 , allowing us to hire 1 intern to help with valuable research.
A well-thought out and strategic social media plan will help us reach out to a new audience, that goes beyond our current 100 business members. This is important since we are an advocacy organization and rely on the support and engagement of the public to achieve our mission. Growing our online following will strengthen our voice, increase our impact and make it easier for everyone to get involved.

Our mission
The San Francisco Housing Action Coalition (SFHAC) advocates for the creation of well-designed, well-located housing at all levels of affordability, to meet the needs of San Franciscans, present and future.
What we do
Housing is currently rated the number one concern in in San Francisco. At the SFHAC our goal is to educate, engage and inform the general population about current housing initiatives and ways businesses and individuals can get involved. The SFHAC is the voice for sensible housing and land use policy in San Francisco. We achieve our mission through:
- Policy and Legislation: we craft smart housing policy and advocate for legislation that will speed up housing production.
- Project Review: we review proposed mixed-use and residential developments and provide feedback to the the sponsor to be sure they are producing the best housing possible.
- Community Outreach: we engage the community to help them become advocates for new housing in San Francisco.
This work could not be done without the support of our diverse membership, which consists of over 100 business and individuals, ranging from market-rate and affordable housing developers, architects, urban livability nonprofits and neighborhood groups.
The SFHAC aims to help Mayor Lee reach his goals to construct 30,000 new and rehabilitated homes throughout the City by 2020.
