Project details

What we need
  • Analysis of our current donor base
  • Assessment of our target demographics, including potential corporate partners, existing marketing materials and fundraising objectives
  • Recommendations for an appropriate course of action to recruit donors, including identification of new resources and most appropriate marketing methods
What we have in place
  • We currently have a donor management system, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have several fee-based strategies, a social media campaign, a small budget for fundraising, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $8,000 , allowing us to invest in the start-up costs of 1 women's water venture in Rwanda, serving 3000 others.

Every year we develop a budget to build internal capacity for sustainability and growth, but are only able to fund 1/2 - 2/3 of that budget. We do a remarkable amount of program work with few resources (and few staff), but are restricted in our ability to scale. This project will help us learn how to identify and cultivate relationships with high net-worth individuals, including what networks to access, how to position ourselves, and what donor expectations are, so we can leverage greater resources to expand our impact among women and girls in Africa.

Our mission

Our mission is to unite, empower and support relief of poor, distressed and underprivileged women worldwide. Our purpose is to catalyze the development of conscious communities of change agents who will work independently, collectively and systemically to advance the rights and wellbeing of women and girls.

What we do

Our core program is our Academy for Conscious Change, a mindfulness-based leadership program and social venture incubator that catalyzes vulnerable women and girls who wish to launch their own grassroots organizations. The Academy lasts 12-18 months, the pace of which is driven by the teams, and offers the following high-engagement support services in four phases:

1. Intensive, interactive 40-hour training program, incorporating (a) mindfulness-based leadership and personal growth practices, (b) mind-body trauma healing and (c) social entrepreneurship and non-profit management skills
2. 3- 6 months of hands-on non-profit venture development facilitation
3. Seed grants and implementation support
4. 12-months non-profit apprenticeship with ongoing, high-engagement advisory support

Since 2006, Global Grassroots has trained over 500 emerging change agents in Rwanda, Northern Uganda, Liberia, Cameroon and the US, who have designed more than 150 civil society organizations serving 175,000 people.
