Program Assessment
Program Assessment
Project details
What we need
The 4th Annual San Francisco Green Film Festival is fast-approaching on May 29 - June 4. We want to develop a strong impact measurement system for the Festival program. A set of metrics that will be show our stakeholders that we are meeting our bold ambitions.
Each Spring, we present a vibrant line-up of 50+ new, ground-breaking environmental films, alongside an array of social events, panels, and awards, with over 70 fillmmakers and guest speakers and 30 local community partners.
We are focused on bringing people together for films and discussions. But the films are just the beginning, we are building a community of informed and engaged people that want to make a difference. When people leave the theater they should feel they can get involved in the world’s most urgent environmental issues and most innovative solutions.
This is our annual opportunity to capture all the data we can about the Festival experience to help us show in a measured and clear way how we deliver outcomes.
We need:
- Someone with experience or knowledge of impact assessment for non-profit organizations.
- Help to identify the metrics that will give us an in-depth evaluation of the Festival’s impact
- Recommendations for areas to improve and embed program assessment in the organization.
What we have in place
- Each year at our Festival we collect audience data and we have a clear understanding of our numbers and demographics. This should help provide the basis for this project, but we want to take it a step further and get a better assessment plan in place. We will support you with detailed information about our goals for the Festival and all the activities that come together to help us achieve them.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,828 , allowing us to provide 240 tickets to the Festival for the local community.
We need to grow our donor base. Improving our program assessment is central to telling our story to donors, foundations and audiences. We know that when the film credits roll, our audience are inspired to make a difference. We need tangible evidence of our impact that our funders understand and can get behind.
Program assessment will help us focus on the parts of the program that are having real impact and can scale. It will help us understand what resonates with our audience. Allowing us to grow, do more of what works and be confident to try new things.
Project plan
Our mission
To educate and connect communities through forward-thinking programs of environmental films and discussions.
What we do
San Francisco Green Film Festival is the Bay Area’s leading movement for films and conversations about people and the planet. We are the only dedicated participatory platform for environmentally focused media within the Bay Area.
San Francisco is a city of people that care deeply about the environment. At the heart of the global Green movement, it leads by example and challenges government, business and communities alike to live a more sustainable future.
But, even here, it can be hard to cut through the noise, to get to the facts and feel you can make something happen.
Now heading into its fifth year, the annual festival and year-round screenings add up to over 200 compelling and relevant environmental film programs. The festival brings together green artists from across the Bay Area, including musicians, sculptors, designers, photographers and filmmakers who are inspired by the environment. They have all provided a participatory space for the eco-savvy and green curious to meet filmmakers, environmental experts and campaigners to watch, discuss, and create ideas for a better world.
The core of SFGFF programs is to bring audiences the films, expertise and participation that gives them a chance to find their thing, their environmental passion, then hook on and act on it.
