Our mission

Boston Arts Academy was founded based on the conviction that academics AND the arts are equally important to student development and achievement. The school serves over 420 urban youth, with nearly 70% coming from low-income households. The arts are infused throughout the academic curriculum motivating students, with a variety of learning styles, to succeed in school and pursue higher education. Each year, over 94% of graduates go on to college, most the first in their families to do so.

What we do

The Boston Arts Academy Foundation is the fund-raising and program-development arm of Boston Arts Academy, our city's only public high school for the visual and performing arts. It was established in 1999 to help pay for the arts teachers, adjuncts, art supplies and production costs not covered by Boston Public School allocations. Thanks to the generosity of individual, foundation, and corporate donors who passionately believe in the transformational power of an arts education, the Foundation is able maintain vital arts programs and personnel at the school - in spite of unrelenting budget cuts.
