Our mission
ChallengeWave helps reduce obesity through improvement in personal habits. People have a hard time prioritizing long term health consequences with the short term demands on their time. Good personal activity habit development must also compete with other, more immediately rewarding activities like watching TV, playing video games and eating socially.
ChallengeWave breaks down the life long topic of health into short term, fun elements that can be worked on today.
What we do
ChallengeWave was started by Dan Wilson after his father passed away in 2006 due to preventable health issues. Dan drew upon his employment history with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina where he worked on the popular activity incentive program Blue Points. The goal of ChallengeWave is to help people start and stick with healthier lifestyles.
ChallengeWave is focused on improving the health and well-being of Americans through innovative technology. ChallengeWave is really good at helping organizations form social collaboration and friendly competitions around healthy campaigns. Organizations use ChallengeWave to organize and administer structured campaigns for population health improvement.
ChallengeWave works by providing intrinsic incentives to forming and maintaining healthy habits. Groups work together towards common health goals in the form of campaigns. The social accountability and entertainment aspects of ChallengeWave motivate individuals to work on their health in short term, achievable segments.
The ChallengeWave product is often used by medically self-insured employers to help staff start and stick with healthier lifestyles. ChallengeWave has also been used in a pro-bono fashion to help organizations without population medical insurance relationships grow a culture of wellness.
