How this will help
This project will save us $6,073 , allowing us to allowing us to screen and treat 750 community members for common waterborne diseases.
Websites are one of the most essential tools for nonprofits to market their mission and impact while providing interested clients with the opportunity to donate easily from anywhere in the world. Maji Safi Group is excited to have our new website convey the high quality of our fun and interactive WASH programs in Tanzania. This project will help increase our donor base and allow us to better communicate the life-saving WASH education and services we are providing to underserved and impoverished people, especially women and children, in rural areas.
Project plan
Our mission
Maji Safi Group’s mission is to promote health and disease prevention in underserved and impoverished areas through holistic community empowerment and by working predominantly with local women and youth.
What we do
Maji Safi Group (MSG), “Clean Water Group” in Swahili, started in 2012 as a project in Shirati, Tanzania, with the vision that the rate of preventable diseases can be reduced in rural communities if women, youth, and vulnerable groups are empowered to be change makers of their community’s public health. To reach this goal, MSG promotes proper water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) behavioral practices and provides healthy lifestyle education. In January 2014, MSG became a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.
Since Maji Safi Group (MSG) was founded, the 14 locally hired and trained Community Health Workers have become WASH ambassadors in the community, 9 programs have been holistically developed through participatory methods and implemented. These programs teach important behavioral changes such as personal hygiene and health, washing hands, water treatment, and alternatives to open defecation. MSG has reached a wide range of community participants in the Rorya district of Tanzania. Program data from the first two years of operation indicates that MSG has reached over 60,000 community members from 107 villages and sub-villages in the Rorya District who have been taught lessons on disease prevention, WASH and health promotion.
