Project details

What we need
  • A proof-of-concept Android app prototype
  • Documentation of the functionality and how users will use the new app

  • Consultation on how to publish and maintain the app, as well as resources for finding assistance moving forward

  • Note: The Mobile app will be a functional prototype but will not be production ready with full user experience (i.e. visual design, animation, etc). Here are some examples of mobile app prototypes: Real Change, SF Trees.

What we have in place
  • We currently have scoped out workflows and needs, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have access to potential developers to collaborate with on a hackathon, subject experts, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $14,612 , allowing us to more quickly develop an approach that will support 1000s and eventually 1000000 people to provide more meaningful support to people and causes they care about.

‘Mobil-Eyes Us’ uses the power of live video to connect you to direct experience of causes you care about, and then provides you meaningful ways you can act by doing what you do best. We know that millions of people globally take actions for issues they care about - but often their only option is a click to donate or a petition. Often they don't feel connected to the issues or the actions and neither is their action a good use of their skills, leverage or capacity. What if we could change that?

  • Volunteer Manager provides details of the product/service concept and main functionality for the mobile app
  • Professional connects with the Volunteer Manager for a brainstorming/overview session to discuss goals, mobile app concept and user stories
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager outline next steps and timeline for the project

Milestone 1: Creation of app definition document and prototype and incorporation of Volunteer Manager’s feedback
  • Professional creates an app definition document outlining how the backend and frontend of the app will work together and discusses the document with the Volunteer Manager
  • Professional creates a rough prototype of the app and shares it with the Volunteer Manager
  • Volunteer Manager provides professional with up to two rounds of feedback

Milestone 2: Delivery of final proof-of-concept Android app prototype and a document of app functionality

What we do

For human rights activists and citizen witnesses who Periscope, Meerkat or Bambuser from civic crisis, there are ways to move people from being passive viewers to active witnesses who see something and do something. Mobil-Eyes Us offers actions to viewers that go beyond watching and commenting, and foster empathy and connection. Within the “Mobil-Eyes Us” project enables experience and action by layering tech innovation in smart calendaring and task-routing on top of robust tactics and storytelling with live video.
