I discovered Master Naturalist from a colleague at George Washington University where I was on faculty at the Medical School. When my wife and I retired (I was a primary care physician, she was a medical anthropologist) we chose Nelson County in Central Virginia for the rural outdoor experience and I became involved with the Rockfish Valley Foundation. Once we moved here I became a Certified Master Naturalist with the Virginia Master Naturalist program. At RVF I volunteered as a docent in the Natural History Museum and became involved in the administration of the organization as a Board of Trustee member and Officer (Recording Secretary)
