I am Executive Director at James Monroe's Highland and Research Professor of Anthropology at William & Mary. As an archaeologist, curiosity ranks high in my outlook on the world. I believe in inclusive narratives and empathetic teaching, and see them as crucial to community strength during this turbulent time. At Highland we are privileged to have the collaboration of Descendant Advisors. Together we are exploring new ways to understand and interpret the past.

My professional experiences include archaeological research in the U.S. and Europe, and teaching in a variety of field and classroom settings. My vision includes ways that museums--and our museum in particular--can bridge divides and find constructive understanding in communities.
