Rikki Epstein is the Executive Director of The Arc of Northern Virginia. The mission of The Arc of Northern Virginia is to promote and protect the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) and actively support their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. It is estimated that there are approximately 39,000 people with ID/DD throughout Northern Virginia.
As Executive Director, Rikki oversees advocacy, community relations, fundraising, and strategic planning for the organization. She is also responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with national, state, regional and local organizations.
She was previously with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro), where her responsibilities included serving people with disabilities.
Earlier in her career, Rikki served as Executive Director of the National Therapeutic Recreation Society. She holds a Masters degree in education, specializing in therapeutic recreation, from George Washington University, and a bachelor's degree in human development, family, and community relations from Buffalo State College.
