One of my favorite quotes to live by is "to whom much is given, much will be required." I believe if you are blessed with time, talents, treasures, and knowledge, it is expected that you use these resources to be a servant leader to benefit others.
I am a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). I have been in clinical practice for over 20 years. I served in the United States Army Reserves Nurse Corp for 8 years as a commissioned officer. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Hampton University in 1988. I received my Master of Science in Nursing - Nurse Anesthesia from Old Dominion University in 2000. I am currently employed in Newport News, VA.
I cite my Christian faith, strong belief in mentoring and desire to impact the youth in my community as the reason for starting Nursing Careers and Pathways Program in 2013. I am currently the Executive Director of Nursing CAP, Inc. In 2015, the organization became incorporated and obtained a 501c3 status. This free program provides a nurturing and supportive environment for students through mentoring; enhancing self-esteem and character; improving study skills; college preparation; and promoting healthy eating and active living. The program actively targets minority, first-generation college, and educationally disadvantaged students in an effort to expose them to sustainable career options in nursing, science, technology, engineering, and healthcare careers. The committed volunteers, dedicated board members, donors and supporters are the reasons why we are able to build capacity and deliver the program.
