Mark has supported the development of community organizations and national and international networks and social movements working for social, economic and environmental justice for over four decades, as an organizer, grants officer, executive director and program representative working in the US, Europe, Asia and Africa.
Since serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Central African Republic in the late 1970s Mark has helped lead program and philanthropic efforts with organizations ranging from Save the Children Federation, the Committee for a SANE Foreign Policy, United Support of Artists for Africa, Oxfam America, JustAct/Youth Action for Global Justice and the Funders Network on Trade and Globalization (FNTG). He helped launch EDGE Funders Alliance out of the merger of the FNTG and Grantmakers without Borders in 2012 and served as founding Executive Director until his retirement in 2019.
Mark obtained a Master's degree from the School of Development Studies at the University of East Anglia in the mid-1980s. He currently serves on the international board of GRAIN and is board president of the local association Bouillabaisse Turfu in Marseille.
