November, 2011 - May, 2014
I covered the New Jersey Devils and the American Hockey League for one of the largest independent sports websites. I wrote and researched articles averaging from 500 to 1,000 words based on various publication schedules. The types of pieces I wrote were "Where are they Now?" features, game previews, editorials and power rankings. I published articles using the WordPress interface.
From August 2013-May of 2014, I wrote about the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL and conducted interviews with coaches and hockey players. I also contributed to AHL Power Rankings and wrote book reviews.
May, 2010 - January, 2013
I edited an average of 30-40 articles per day on a wide range of sports topics, working via a content management system. I corrected grammatical errors and deviations from the Bleacher Report and AP style guides, as well as wrote headlines for search engine optimization to help writers maximize traffic. Once finished, I left feedback for the writer explaining what changes I made so they can improve in the future. In addition, I flagged any articles that are not in line with the site's content standards.
I have been recognized for high performance when it comes to adhering to content standards and leaving strong feedback for writers. I started at the company in May 2010 as a copy editing intern and have worked my way up to full-time employee.
