Mary-Kate Starkel, CFRE is the Director of Development at redefinED atlanta, and chiefly responsible for the organization's current $29M fund cycle to ensure that every student, in every community of Atlanta, has the opportunity to attend a high-quality public school. Her passion and expertise are in supporting grassroots and growing nonprofits launch giving programs and develop diverse, active, and passionate boards of directors.
A seasoned nonprofit professional, Mary-Kate has spent 15+ years working on behalf of educational and youth-serving organizations in program management and resource development roles. She got her start in fundraising during Washington State University's $1B campaign and has since managed annual giving, institutional giving, and major giving programs. Starkel is an Atlanta native and graduated from Georgia State University with her Bachelors of Social Work and Masters of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management. In 2019 she was awarded her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credentials.
Mary-Kate lives in Atlanta with her spouse, who teaches 6th grade at a local public school, and two young daughters.
