Biography
Jessica Ellis serves as Executive Director of Centinela Youth Services (CYS) which strives to end the school-to-prison pipeline and the over-incarceration of youth. With 26 years of experience in youth development, education, non-profit management and restorative justice, Jessica received recognition from the California State Senate for her "visionary leadership" in building the second largest Restorative Justice program in the country, reducing recidivism of youth served by over 70%. Jessica has consulted with law enforcement, schools and other organizations on building ethical organizational culture. A graduate of Scripps College in Claremont, CA, Ellis is a certified mediator, certified rape crisis counselor and an active volunteer in her community. "Like many families, mine has been touched by both sides of the justice system, with loved ones incarcerated and loved ones victimized by violent crime. The legal system did not bring healing for either side. I continue to be inspired by the stories of reconciliation and healing human connections that our volunteer mediators help facilitate."
