The Delaware Founders Initiative is a newly formed 501(c)3 business accelerator dedicated to activating and amplifying the start-up entrepreneurial environment in the state. DFI provides education, mentoring and angel funding.
Partnered with a Philadelphia based VC which provided unique acceleration education to 26 local companies over the 2 year period and generated 35 full time jobs.
Based on the group's successes, solicited and received $125K from a foundation and $10K from a local government group.
* Built the Delaware Founders Angel group into an active group of over 50 accredited investors.
May, 2013 - Current
I have been interacting with RENEW for almost 5 years, initially as a member of the Impact Angel Network and now also as a consultant.
* Selected by the private equity firm to work for 6 weeks in Ethiopia to help them determine African expansion plans. Developed criteria for country selection, and solicited foundations and development agencies for funding. Result: Applied for project grants in Uganda and Rwanda. Met personally with development leaders from 3 Nordic countries.

Member of the 7-person Leadership Committee responsible for managing a 1,300-person business operation for Dade Behring as the company went through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Result: During those 20 months, we cut costs by 15% and preserved cash while still keeping high employee morale and maintaining customer loyalty
Managed the R&D strategic planning process and optimized the $100 million global R&D portfolio by making financial, technical and resource allocation compromises among 5 business units.
Hired and trained 6 people for my Financial Planning & Analysis team that analyzed and drove business profitability for the global R&D organization. Five of the 6 have since been promoted to Director or Senior Manager.
August, 1992 - August, 1999
Led the planning effort to close down half of a UAW organized plant that resulted in a work force reduction of 800 people. Areas addressed in my detailed plan included inventory control and reduction, equipment disposal, personnel relocation, operational planning and policies, and accounting and systems integrity. Result: Plant hit its budget for 16 months during the 18-month period while earning Ford's highest quality award.
