Vanessa Wilkins has worked in the non-profit domestic violence field for the last sixteen years. In 2003, Vanessa obtained a position with Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence d/b/a Promise Place as their project coordinator. In this position, she expanded services which had only been available in Fayette county, to several new counties. This resulted in overall program growth and increased access to services for victims of domestic violence in underserved communities. With the opening of this area's first state certified domestic violence shelter in 2007 Vanessa took on the position as Shelter Director, assisting in developing the framework for services provided to clients.
Now serving as Executive Director for Promise Place, she oversees programs in 4 counties and supports domestic violence initiatives for the community. One of these initiatives was featured in the 11th annual Georgia Domestic Violence Fatality Review report. Vanessa was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal to the Georgia Commission on Family Violence in February 2015. Vanessa has testified as an expert witness in several domestic violence related trials. She currently chairs the Development Committee on the board of the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
