Biography

I'm the Executive Director of Destiny Arts Center, and for the past 3 years worked to find, build and relocate to our new arts facility. My background is in community development and public policy, having worked in the State Senate, bring my policy and program experience to Destiny to celebrate our 25 years of moving young people to peace.

A native of San Francisco of Guatemalan descent, I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Political Science. I draw from my experiences as a public school student immersed in dance, theater, music (I played the cello) and sports (I played softball) to advocate on behalf of arts education and for Destiny’s mission and vision. My husband Tom and I reside in Oakland with our kitty Ho Chi Meow, and enjoy skiing, dragon boating, cooking and travel (we leave Ho Chi at home).
