For more than 25 years, Mary Crean has worked in development, marketing and communications for a variety of enterprises. During that time she has raised millions of dollars, and designed and implemented numerous multimedia campaigns, while significantly increasing the profiles of organizations through cultivating partnerships with media, individuals, businesses and foundations.
Since 2000, Mary has worked in development and communications for various Hartford nonprofits, including Knox Parks Foundation, Yankee Institute for Public Policy and, notably, the Village for Families and Children, where she created the concept for the magazine “Champions for Children,” which blossomed into a multimedia campaign.
Before coming to Achieve Hartford!, Mary served as Chief Development Officer for Hartford Public Library where she raised more than a million dollars in grant, corporate and individual support. She also significantly bolstered the Library’s signature fundraising event, which is now one of the premier events in Hartford. Additionally, she played lead roles both in the Library’s successful rebranding campaign and in its receipt of several national and local awards.
After earning a B.S. from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Mary began her professional career as an entrepreneur, owning and managing a fitness center for 10 years. She then served for the next seven years as managing partner for Avant Garde Multimedia, where she hosted the weekly broadcast television program, “Connecticut Lifestyles,” promoting nonprofit organizations, businesses and tourism destinations.
Mary brings a deep interest and expertise for maximizing the individual and regional economic potential of Connecticut’s capital city.
