WildAid's mission is to inspire and empower the world to protect wildlife and vital habitats from critical threats.

What We Do

WildAid was founded in the year 2000 with a focus on ending the illegal wildlife trade. Today, we continue this important work where significant illegal markets remain.

We have broadened our focus to address the unsustainable human consumption that drives climate change, habitat destruction, and biodiversity loss.

WildAid inspires millions of people around the world to make different consumption choices to protect vulnerable wildlife and habitat. Our work is driven by these two successful, cost-effective strategies:

Media Campaigns and Consumer Education. WildAid runs widespread media campaigns that reach hundreds of millions of people -- across China, several countries in Southeast Asia and Africa, and in the United States -- to protect wildlife and address climate change.

We produce dynamic billboard, radio, TV, and social media campaigns and then secure an average of $30 million worth of pro bono media placement for each campaign.

Ocean Protection. With 20 years of experience on the sea, WildAid has pioneered an internationally recognized ocean conservation model that safeguards vulnerable Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). We partner with local communities and governments to stop illegal fishing and protect ocean habitats.

WildAid provides marine protection expertise in 16+ countries worldwide and has safeguarded 8,500+ ocean species. In 2023 we won Prince William's prestigious and competitive Earth Shot prize in the 'Revive Our Oceans' category.

We're also proud that, for 10 years running, Charity Navigator has awarded WildAid their highest rating --4 stars - reflecting strong accountability in governance and finance.
