Mission

The mission of Venice Community Housing is to reduce homelessness, maximize affordable housing, empower low-income constituents, provide social services, and advocate for public policy that protects and strengthens the economic, racial and cultural diversity of Venice and other neighborhoods on the Westside of Los Angeles.

What We Do

VCH was founded in 1988 to respond to two critical community issues: 1) the increasing displacement of low-income Venice residents; and 2) a growing population of homeless people, particularly families, in Venice Beach. Since then, VCH now owns 208 Units of affordable and supportive housing in 14 properties
Operates 28 Units of short-term housing for families and transitional aged youth experiencing homelessness in 3 properties
VCH housed over 500 people last year, of whom over 149 had previously been homeless. Additionally, since 1996, VCH has operated youth development programs focused on creating educational and economic opportunities for children, youth and young adults ages 5 through 24.
In addition to direct provision of housing and services, Venice Community Housing works to sustain the vibrant diversity of Venice and to address the interests of the low-income residents through advocacy at the local, state, and national levels. Through strong volunteer engagement, community organizing and collaboration with other agencies, VCH leverages its connection with residents, experience, and demonstrated impact in order to achieve lasting change for more people. By building strong community leaders among youth and adults, VCH supports their efforts to speak for themselves and create the change their families most desire.
