Mission

The Fountain Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit lender that provides microloans to formerly incarcerated individuals. Loan funds can be used to pay court-imposed debt, job-related expenses, transportation, secure safe housing or to start a business. Our mission is to improve the lives of the formerly incarcerated through lending, financial education, credit building and community support.

What We Do

When released from incarceration, many individuals face a need for capital, both to meet criminal justice-related obligations, such as court costs, fines, fees, restitution, or child support, and also to create opportunity for elevation through education, entrepreneurship, and professional readiness. These financial needs can be especially overwhelming for low-income individuals, many of whom do not qualify for traditional lending. Some individuals will return to criminal behavior to make enough money, often resulting in re-incarceration and more debt to society. The Fountain Fund disrupts these cycles by empowering our clients with mission-based lending, financial education, credit building, and community referrals.
