Mission
The Share Food Program is a nonprofit organization serving a regional network of community organizations engaged in food distribution, education and advocacy.
What We Do
Share Food Program is the region's largest food bank and hunger relief organization. Share has mounted an aggressive response to the COVID-19 crisis, as more individuals and families identify as food insecure. We are currently serving more than one million individuals each month in Philadelphia and the four collar counties, and delivering enough food for more than 1.5 million meals each week to people in greatest need across the region.
Share works in partnership with a network of community-based food pantries to distribute food across the region. We have also instituted a contactless "Knock, Drop and Roll" food delivery program, to bring nourishing food to seniors and people with disabilities, so they can stay safely at home. This program serves over 1,000 people each week, with the support of caring volunteers.
Share also manages the National School Lunch Program that serves over 305,000 children at 794 schools in the Greater Philadelphia area. Our "senior food boxes" through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program help over 8,000 low-income seniors. Share's Nice Roots Farm grows healthy produce that we sell at affordable prices at community farm stands. And Share participates in local, regional and national coalitions that fight for food justice and equitable policies.
