Mission

The mission of Room to Grow is to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their critical first three years of development.

What We Do

Parents living in poverty are referred to Room to Grow by a selected group of prenatal programs throughout New York City. Upon their referral, parents visit Room to Grow's warm and inviting space every three months from just before the birth of their baby until their child turns three. During their one-on-one appointments with a social worker, parents receive customized support, education and guidance, and also select new and nearly new clothing, developmental toys, books, and gear, free of charge.

Supporting parents with this unique and powerful combination of resources helps even the odds for children in poverty. Room to Grow helps to ensure that children will develop optimally, and will continue on to meet their full potential in education, work, and citizenship, thereby making it more likely they will escape poverty as adults.
