Mission

The mission of Project: Face in Water is to educate communities about aquatic health and the importance of swimming and water safety skills starting at birth. Through awareness and education we can improve quality of life by creating a paradigm shift in the way societies interact with water. It's never too early or too late to learn how to swim.

What We Do

Have you ever wondered about your purpose in life? Well I did. I knew I could be doing something bigger, something better, something important.

For my 40th birthday, I created a pro bono experiment that would challenge myself as an instructor. My goal was to teach a one-hour private swim lesson to 40 different individuals with anxiety and/or fear of the water. My hope was that they would allow me to guide them out of their comfort zone, conquer the obstacle, continue to cultivate a healthy relationship with the water, share their stories and encourage others to do the same. It was an incredible, life-changing journey that led me to my true calling. It's amazing what one can accomplish when they are 100% focused and present.

My superpower is the ability to connect with people right away, quickly assess their individual needs, break down information that may seem overwhelming, and present it in bite-size pieces, customized for each individual. I've decided to continue the momentum by starting an Autism Swim program with funding from Autism Speaks, collaborating on a children's book that teaches kids the fundamentals of swimming and a documentary that will inspire a paradigm shift in the way society interacts with water.
