Mission

The Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Education strives to improve the lives of all Philadelphians by providing pathways and equitable access to high quality education in the City.

What We Do

The Philadelphia Mayor's Office of Education has several initiatives. Among them are the Graduation Coach Campaign and PhillyGoes2College.

The Graduation Coach Campaign has two major roles. The first is to raise awareness throughout the city of Philadelphia about the importance of graduating high school and moving on to post-secondary attainment--be it college or another career and technical pathway. The second is to empower ADULTS to support a young person through this process. Although adults may realize the importance of education, they often don't have the know-how they need to help guide a student through high school and to college and successful careers. We give them this know-how in two ways. The first is through in-person workshops which we call Training Camps and the second is on line through instructional videos called Game Plans.

PhillyGoes2College was created to help fulfill the Mayor’s pledge to ensure that high school graduates complete two and four year degrees and that returning, non-traditional students get the resources they need to attend and excel in college.

Through this initiative we work to promote a college-going culture by organizing citywide educational campaigns and events that increase awareness of the need for college and provide information on how to get there. We also do this by recognizing and celebrating the achievements of Philadelphians who have reached educational milestones.

PhillyGoes2College also functions as a hub of information. We provide referrals on college-going issues at our office located in City Hall and through our phone line that operates from 9am to 5pm.
Our comprehensive website (www.phillygoes2college.org) contains information, a calendar of public events and opportunities, and referrals to prepare students to enroll, finance, and complete college.
