Mission

The Montessori School of Charlottesville is a preschool serving children ages 21 months- kindergarten. We strive to include a rich diversity of background, race, culture, gender identity, socio-economic status, and family structure in all aspects of our school community. We are dedicated to teaching peace, furthering international and ecological consciousness and view education as "an aid to life." We empower children to believe in themselves and their abilities to make a positive difference in the world they share. Our MSC Community extends into the larger community with a message of inclusion, respect, and peace.

What We Do

We provide care for young children in an authentic Montessori environment. By following the philosophy and practice of Maria Montessori we support the natural development of the child by "following the child". Our classrooms are places of peace, meticulously created and maintained to support the child's natural curiosity and independence. New relationships and skills are developed naturally and supported by adults who are experts in child development and have the utmost respect for young children.
