MSHS serves northern gardeners through education, environment and community.
What We Do
MSHS provides resources to northern gardeners and the horticultural industry in Minnesota through multiple avenues. Our award winning publication, Northern Gardener magazine, educates an audience of over 28,000 readers on a variety of gardening topics throughout the year.
One of our two signature outreach programs, Minnesota Green, brings vital garden materials to over 92 community garden groups and serves over 3,000 gardeners in Minnesota each year by partnering with a broad network of industry partnerships. Our Garden-in-a-Box program partners with community-based organizations, nonprofits, childcare centers, and schools in Minnesota to teach low-income kids and their families how to garden and grow fresh, healthy produce. Over 4200 children were served through this program in 2018 and almost 6,000 individuals received garden boxes in the Twin Cities metro and northern and southern Minnesota.
MSHS also educates a vast audience of new to veteran gardeners through educational classes, webinars and exhibits.
