Mission

The Milwaukee Turners have a long history of civic engagement - originally founded by German immigrants and refugees from the failed revolution against tyranny in 1848, today our membership of 600 is incredibly and intentionally diverse, reflective of the community around us. Turners helped start the first kindergartens in the country, fought against confederate slavers and nazis, and were early abolitionists and suffragists. Today, we offer non-partisan cultural and educational programs, and teach gymnastics and physical and mental fitness from Turner Hall, a National, City and County Historic Landmark.
