Our mission is to help build brighter futures for youth in Mountain View and Los Altos through volunteer tutoring and mentoring programs that improve social and academic life skills.
What We Do
Mentor Tutor Connection (MTC), established in 1996, is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit that serves students in 22 public schools in Mountain View and Los Altos, California through free volunteer tutoring (K-8th grade) and mentoring (9th - 12th) services to vulnerable and/or under-performing students.
Last year, approximately 170 MTC volunteers worked with around 450 youth (350 tutored students and 100 mentored students), and 100% of our mentored seniors graduated high school.
Our core work involves recruiting, vetting, training and placing / matching volunteers with students and then tracking the relationships through the school year. We annually collect and collate metrics help us evaluate our impact. All this is achieved with the help of part-time staff: 5 program staff and one executive director.
